Supporting Growth and Building Community at Artist Proof Studio

June and July were busy months at Artist Proof Studio. Our recent activities highlight how we foster artistic growth and connect with our community.

Highlights from Term 2 at APS

Our students wrapped up Term 2 crits, demonstrating progress in both technical skills and ideas. First year students explored still life in pen and watercolour, while second year students explored identity through figure drawing and printmaking. Third year students prepared ambitious multi-plate colour etchings and early works for their graduation exhibition at the end of the year. Their development reflects the focus and professionalism within their final year.

APS Graduates at Roedean Art Fair

Our interns contributed to the studio’s outreach efforts at the Roedean Art Fair, they showcased printmaking techniques through live demonstrations and engaged with visitors. Most of our artists and graduates were interviewed during the fair further promoting APS and the art of printmaking. This event exemplified how our educational activities extend beyond the studio, encouraging public participation in printmaking. Watch video here

Why should young people collect art?

Buying art for the first time can be daunting, our involvement in the Aspire Art Panel discussion, moderated by Carina Jansen featuring Nathi Simelane (APS) and Kholisa Thomas (Aspire) giving insight into why young people should collect art showed our commitment to engaging emerging collectors and promoting printmaking awareness.

The conversation focused on collecting culture, the accessibility of printmaking and building the next generation of collectors. Buying art that moves you not only supports the artists but it also contributes to the history and preservation of the era we are living in.

The Pay Just Now option on our online store has made it easier to collect art. You can now purchase your favourite editions in three interest free instalments. Browse our online collection here

Looking ahead, we continue to develop new projects and plan more opportunities for community engagement. Stay connected for updates on upcoming exhibitions and events.
