Welcome to Artist Proof Studio

We are a center of excellence in printmaking in the heart of Johannesburg. Artist Proof Studio (APS) is a leading arts education centre and professional printmaking studio dedicated to training, publishing, and social impact through visual art.

Artist Proof Studio (APS) was founded in 1991 by Kim Berman and the late Nhlanhla Xaba.

Alongside South Africa’s democratic transition, APS has remained committed to its mission: expanding access to visual arts education and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts. We provide subsidised printmaking education to passionate and talented artists from across the African continent, particularly those who face barriers due to economic, educational, or social inequality.
