"Currently living in the city of Johannesburg that is filled with people who are eager to take on life and it’s all challenges, I think of being under the water in a sea scape with a freshwater fish trying to survive in a sea of salty water, some almost make it, and some don’t. Fish, which is a metaphor in my work that describes a huge number of people in the city coming from different parts of African countries in search of greener pastures and to better their lives, having to adapt to the new environment, cultural beliefs, and different languages. The cardboard box fish mask symbolizes the people as they are living in or passing by the city they must encounter or witness what is like to live in the city of Johannesburg which it is a place that one cannot call home.”
