The vision of Artist Proof Studio is deeply rooted in a sense of shared humanity, where those with talent and passion can strive for excellence in artmaking, achieving both creative fulfilment and self-sustainability. As we engage with the 2025 Investec Cape Town Art Fair's theme of "Play," we reflect on a 34-year legacy steeped in creative exploration and uninhibited expression.

At our studio, we witness the unfolding of creative journeys, were printmakers "play" with endless possibilities, gradually finding their way to meaningful destinations. Through collaboration, creativity flourishes, unbound by rules and driven by a shared joy to experiment and create without hesitation. This process leaves behind traces of their playful spirit, marks, patterns, and paths forged in the freedom of uninhibited creation.

The artworks we present are not just visual experiences; they are dialogues where each decision invites the viewer to "play along" and engage with the outcomes.

David Tsoka's dynamic monotypes, along with the bold linocuts by Lazi Mathebula and Lebohang Motaung, invite the viewer to explore the intersection of tradition and innovation. The whimsical narratives in Mary Sibande's lithographs reveal a playful spirit that transcends the boundaries of time. Thokozani Madonsela and William Kentridge add layers of depth through their imagery, reminding us that play is not just a momentary act but a continuous journey.

This collection offers a glimpse into a legacy of creativity born from the sanctuary of our studio, where playfulness and artistic exploration are celebrated.
