Education is at the heart of everything we do at Artist Proof Studio. Our printmaking programme equips students with technical skills, nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a sense of purpose. As the first term wraps up, we're proud to share what our students have been up to and how they’re already growing as artists and community leaders.
Laying the Foundation

Deepening the Practice

Second-year students took on more complex challenges this term, including advanced drawing, portraiture, and colour theory. One of their standout projects was a collaborative mandala collagraph, where they combined technical skill with teamwork, pattern, and rhythm.

Exploring New Ideas
Professor Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė of the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania) Department of Graphic Arts led a visual expression and printmaking workshop for third-year students of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Artist Proof Studio (APS). This exchange introduced alternative etching techniques and new ways of thinking about the medium, sparking exciting experimentation and conversation between the two groups. Learn more.

Printmakers Shaping Their Communities
Beyond the studio, one of our graduates led a monotype workshop for over 40 children at the Children’s Disability Project (CDP). This community engagement initiative reflects our belief that education doesn’t stop at the classroom, giving back is part of learning too.
All these experiences are made possible through the support of our donors. You can contribute to the future of these young artists by supporting the Gianni Mariano Scholarship Fund, which helps cover tuition, materials, and mentorship for deserving students.

Let’s keep building opportunities through printmaking, one student, one print, one moment at a time.
