This year’s FNB Art Joburg Art Fair was a standout experience for the Artist Proof Studio (APS) team. Our booth, significantly larger than last year's, allowed us to showcase a wider range of artworks, including both high-value pieces and emerging talent. The expanded space gave us the opportunity to present larger works that captured the essence of our theme, "Past, Future, Present," in a truly engaging way.
Visitors were able to experience a diverse collection where established and young artists shared the spotlight. This curation highlighted the dialogue between different generations of artists, encapsulating the theme of time and connection through printmaking. The buzz around our booth was palpable as collectors and art lovers engaged with our team the artists, discussed the pieces, and shared their perspectives on the interplay between history, present realities, and future possibilities. Among the many talented artists featured, our top-selling editions included works by: William Kentridge, Abe Mathabe, Mary Sibande, Thokozani Madonsela, Lebohang Motaung and Mongezi Ncaphayi
We have added new works to the collection, and we invite you to visit our online store to explore and secure the limited editions we have available. SHOP HERE
We want to express our gratitude to everyone who engaged with us both in person and online during the fair. Your support and interest in our collection mean so much to us and the talented artists we represent. If you haven’t yet had the chance, we invite you to explore and purchase from our available works to add something special to your collection.
Mural in Progress: Fallo, Italy - Honouring Gianni Mariano
Our mural project in Fallo, Italy, is currently underway, and it's a meaningful tribute to the late Gianni Mariano, a beloved supporter of the arts and our community. The mural is being created by our talented 2023 graduates—Bekithemba Mdluli, George Mokwena, and Mohau Moholane—who have been pouring their creativity and skills into this significant work.
The mural aims to honour Gianni's legacy by celebrating art, community, and the spirit of collaboration. As the mural progresses, we continue to see it transform into a vibrant tribute that resonates with Gianni's passion for nurturing young talent. The Art Room Senior Graduate Exhibition
The Art Room Graduate Exhibition was an independent initiative organized by graduates Tshegofatso Phore and Lesego Ditshego, marking a significant step in their artistic careers following the completion of their internships. This exhibition demonstration their ability to navigate the art world with confidence and independence.
By leveraging the relationships they built and their networking skills, they were able to secure a venue and successfully present their art to the public. Their efforts reflect the transition from students to professional artists, showing the readiness and entrepreneurial spirit of our graduates.
The theme of the recent art fair, which emphasized the importance of the past, present, and future being in the hands of students and emerging artists, resonates with our mission at APS. By focusing on nurturing, developing, and investing in the education and growth of emerging artists, we are actively shaping the future of art.
